New Life And Name For Pontiac's Strand Theatre
PONTIAC, Mich. (CelebrityAccess) — The Strand Theatre in downtown Pontiac will soon have a new name after venue operators signed a naming rights agreement with Flagstar Bancorp Inc.
The venue, which has been closed for more than 20 years, will be undergoing a planned, $20 million renovation and is expected to reopen in the middle of 2016 as the Flagstar Strand Theatre for the Performing Arts.
Included in the agreement are sign placement on marquees, VIP lounges, the box office and other places around the venue as well as financial support for the renovations.
When it re-opens, the 38,000-square-foot theater will feature 838 seats, new sound and lights, VIP boxes and a new barbeque restaurant with a capacity of 150 diners, according to Crain's Detroit Business News.
Encore Performing Arts Center, a nonprofit organization, will serve as the theater’s operations and business manager.
