Greg Lake was an English musician, singer, and songwriter. He was the lead singer, guitarist, bassist, and co-lyricist of progressive rock band Emerson, Lake, and Palmer (ELP). Other members of the band included Keith Emerson and Carl Palmer. He was also a founding member of the bands King Crimson and Emerson, Lake and Powell, which also included Emerson.

Greg was the son of Lily and Harry Lake, an engineer. He grew up in a poor family, in the suburb Oakdale. He learned guitar at twelve, and wrote his first song “Lucky Man.” He was married, and a had a daughter.

Greg’s paternal grandfather was Harry Earnest Lake (the son of Harry Lake and Emile Vere). Greg’s grandfather Harry was born in Poole, Dorset. Greg’s great-grandfather Harry was the son of John Lake and Ellen Janes.

Greg’s paternal grandmother was named Gertrude Annie Trim (the daughter of Robert Trim and Hannah Maria). Gertrude was born in Poole, Dorset. Robert was the son of James Trim and Mary.
