Emma Hernan is one of the stars of Netflix's hit reality series, Selling Sunset, having joined in the show's fourth season. She also has her own line of vegan empanadas. Hernan just posted a new set of pool photos on Instagram this week. In them, she wore a strapless black two-piece swimsuit, her figure on display. She captioned the post, "SUN DAZE ☀️ .. Soaking up the summer rays and planning a little getaway for September, comment below where I should go!!!" How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Emma Hernan stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.
Hernan shared how she got into creating her empanada line with Elite Daily. "I grew up cooking in the kitchen with my grandmother from my dad's side, and she was 100% Portuguese," she says. "We would do a bunch of different things and empanadas were one of them. When my grandfather passed away, I moved in with her and took care of her. She was just, like, my person. And then that's how I created the empanadas. I just like creating a healthy fusion, but also bringing something that was important to me and my childhood and in my family."
Hernan shared some of her business secrets with Grazia. She says that she makes sure to stay in charge of what's happening. "My business is 100% owned and bootstrapped by me. I have had many people reach out offering to invest, but for now, I do not need the investment because I secured myself financially before starting out. At a later stage, I am sure I will take on investors to continue growing my business since outside capital is great for a business, but it is amazing having the opportunity to decide when and who I want to invest."
Hernan tells Grazia that she has a lot of support in her life, which helps her business be successful. "I have surrounded myself with great people but have grown my team slowly to not overspend. I now employ 50+ people in Boston, Massachusetts and since I am not there daily, I rely on my team to run the day-to-day operations. Find people you trust and who wants the best for you and your business. Treat them with respect, compensate them for their hard work and make sure you listen to the people around you."
Hernan makes sure to have a good work life balance. She tells Grazia that she makes sure to take time off. "I know it is a cliche, but work hard, play hard! Most days, I work from early morning to very late evenings, but I am working for myself, so I truly enjoy it. However, I make sure that I also leave time for family and friends. Making money or being successful is not everything. You need to take time to do the things that bring you joy in life. Often, when I take time off, and am not rushing to back-to-back meetings, I find myself coming up with new ideas and innovations that I want to work on."
Hernan is all about being kind. She tells Grazia that this has helped her get where she is now. "Be kind, humble and respectful. Being kind does not mean you are a pushover, or people can take advantage of you. Instead, it means that you get to be a good person that other people enjoy working with, and it will bring you opportunities."
