Emily Hackett Shares Her Love Story with Adorable Lyric Video for How The Hell Remix (Premiere

After dropping the remix to one of her most vulnerable (and romantic) songs yet, Emily Hackett is showing fans what her adorable love story is like with her boyfriend Michael through the lyric video for “How The Hell” [Sj Remix].

Exclusively premiering on Celeb Secrets this afternoon, the dreamy visual was filmed in sunny California where Hackett and Michael seemed to be having the perfect date, as they put on the cutest PDA while riding bikes and dancing on the beach.

The original version — “How The Hell (Michael’s Song)” — explores Hackett’s dedication to confessional storytelling; as she writes about not understanding how she ended up with a love she didn’t feel she deserved, but being grateful the universe brought them together.

“I was listening to the original version of the song and I just heard it. I was like, ‘Oh man, I think this could be a dance song if somebody remixed it,'” Emily tells Celeb Secrets about the tune’s new version. “I never could have imagined what SJ would do to it. He turned it upside down and painted it technicolor.”

Growing up outside Atlanta, Emily Hackett realized her passion for music as a little girl—thanks largely to her father, a former rock critic—and in sixth grade began writing songs of her own. Soon after graduating from Belmont University, Hackett found breakout success with “Take My Hand (The Wedding Song)”: a 2014 ballad she wrote especially for a friend’s wedding and recorded with Parachute’s Will Anderson, then saw shoot to #4 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart almost immediately after its release.

Since releasing twin EPs By The Sun & By The Moon, Hackett shared latest collection of songs on My Version Of A Love Song — an EP that showcases her signature emotive songwriting while also touching on different forms of love. Not one to shy away from genre-bending, Emily leans more than ever into a new, pop-infused sound that is bound to appeal to listeners who enjoy all types of music.
