Tom Shadyac is an American director, screenwriter, producer, and author. He is known for his films Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Nutty Professor, and Liar Liar, among others.
Tom is the son of Julie and Richard Shadyac. Tom’s father was of half Lebanese and half Irish descent. Tom’s mother was born in Massachusetts, to Lebanese parents.
Tom’s paternal grandfather was Joseph Charley Shadyac (the son of Bshorra Shadyac and Sarah Solomon). Joseph was born in Blouza, Lebanon.
Tom’s paternal grandmother was Elizabeth May “Lizzie” Gavin (the daughter of Matthew Gavin and Catharine “Katie” Welch). Matthew was born in Vermont, to parents from Ireland, John Gavin and Anna Flynn. Catharine was Irish.
